TRAVEL AMASYA

 

  Amasya is set in a narrow gorge of the Yesilirmak (Iris) River, and dates from the third century B.C. The beauty of Amasya’s natural surroundings, as well as its splendid architectural legacy have combined to make this city one of the most beautiful city in Turkey. Centre of religion in the Hittite period, it was the capital city of the kingdom In the Hellenistic age. Later, Amasya became a cultural centre where scholars, scientists, artists, poets lived. In the city, one can see the relics of the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine,  Seljukide, and Ottoman civilizations, as well as many important remains belonging to the first years of the Turkish Republic.

 

  What to see: Amasya’s Houses –Castle – King rocks Tombs –Mosques-Thermal Spring.

 

  What to eat: Catal corba (Knife soup), helle corbasi (soup), ekmekasi (bread meal), kesme ibik corbasi (soup),toyga corbasi (soup) , bakla dolmasi (stuffed broad bean), hengel (kind of meat pasty), pancar (beetroot and dried meat), kabak kabuklu pilav (rice with marrow scale), zerdali (wild apricot) gallesi, (bread with black cherry, sini su pastry (Amasya type water pastry).
